USS Hornet Overnight

Greetings all!
We've been promising a date and without further ado ...

May 12th is our official USS Hornet Overnight!

We'll spend the night on a "Live-Aboard" and venture in the footsteps of astronauts and heroes.  The USS Hornet is the famous World War II ship that proudly recovered the first men to walk on the Moon, the Apollo 11 and 12 lunar mission astronauts.
This is an all ages trip, however, please keep in mind that this is an iron ship and will require going up/down some steep ladders.  Closed toed shoes are required.

Please sign up on our attendance spreadsheet.  If you have trouble signing up, email us and we can add your name.  We currently have reserved spots for 20 adults and 20 youth.

Signup info:

  • When: May 12, 4PM - 9AM
  • Registration Deadline:  April 20 - Sign up early.  Registration is limited.
  • Cost:
    • $75 per adult/sibling (all ages)
    • $40 per scout (discount is because of our mistletoe fundraiser.  It is not a USS Hornet discount).
    • Includes a night tour, dinner/breakfast in the mess, and more.
      • Vegetarian? Indicate it at registration
      • GF/DF? Email us - a fridge/micro can be arranged by the museum
  • Location: Pier 3 in Alameda, CA

Arrival and Overnight details:

Parking is across the street (no cars allowed on the pier).  We will need to carry sleeping bags and other gear on board. Falling in, stowing our gear, and following orders are all part of this unique and memorable experience.  Expect there to be normal ship noises, such as creaks and groans during the night.

There is an initial safety briefing, then we stow our gear in our berthing areas, and dinner follows shortly after.

    • 4:00-4:30PM, Saturday May 12.
    • Full group needs to be present for check in.
    • Drive time is about 2h from Salinas
  • Accommodations:
    • Original Crew berthing.
    • Berthing racks include a foam mattress.
    • Area may be shared with another group/families.
    • Ladies can be housed separately if desired.
