Mistletoe Selling Saturday Star Market 10am-12 noon

Hi Pack 93 Families,
We managed to put together 200 bundles of mistletoe at our last meeting. All we need to do now is sell it! Each family took 5-10 bundles to sell to friends and neighbors.

We have arranged to sell at Star Market in Salinas on Saturday Dec 3rd and Dec. 10th from 10am-12 noon and we are working on selling at Del Monte shopping center Dec. 10th. We have an attendance sheet for you to sign up and help. You can also join together with other den members and sell in your neighborhoods.

Please remember this is the only fundraiser we are doing this year so equal participation is much appreciated. This is a great opportunity to let your child interact with adults and work with his other pack members as a team. He will learn how to fund raise in a polite manner and how to thank people for supporting the pack.

Go Pack 93!

Thanks, Lucy.

Mistletoe gathering Sunday Nov 27

Hello everyone,.

We will be gathering mistletoe to sell for one of our fundraisers.

We will meet Sunday at the Casa de Fruita store.  The exact time is still being coordinated.

Once we meet, we will have to drive up a road that is very rough, and NOT SUITABLE for small cars.  You will need a truck or SUV to make the trip.  Because of this, we may need to carpool beyond Casa de Fruita.  It is about an hour drive each way from our meeting spot.

We need someone (or two) to bring a ladder.  If you can do this please let us know.

You will also need to bring food to eat.

Because we may need to work out details last minute, it is imperative that you sign up on the blog that you are coming.

Thank you
Steve T

Square Account

Hello everyone,

Many of you may have noticed emails from our Pack Square account.  As you know, Square accounts allow us to send out invoices and receive payments, electronically.  Many of you like the convenience of paying this way and not having to worry about checks or cash.

For those new to the Pack the Square invoices that come via email may look unusual, so we wanted to post this to let you know we do send invoices this way.  When you receive an invoice, you can pay it electronically, but you do not have to.  You still have the option of bring a check or cash.

If you are ever unsure if a Square invoice is really from us, you an always check with us before you pay.

thank you
Steve Tackett

Fremont Peak Hike Update

Hi All,

Tomorrow's forecast for Fremont Peak calls for a temperature of 56 degrees in the afternoon going down to 52 degrees by 8:00 pm with a 10% chance of rain.  While the conditions won't be perfect for a hike and picnic dinner, we still plan to go forward with the event.  If you plan to join in the fun, please be prepared for cool and possibly wet weather.  The trail will likely also be muddy given the rain we have had in the last 24 hours.

If the sky conditions are cloudy tomorrow evening (which is also likely), the Fremont Peak Observatory Association will open at 8:00 pm for a lecture only and will close by 9:00 pm.  We'll have to keep our fingers crossed that the skies will clear and we'll get the opportunity to see the stars!

Hope to see many of you Saturday afternoon and evening.

All the best,

Al

Fremont Peak Hike, Saturday, October 29th

Hi All,

The Pack 93 hike at Fremont Peak will be next Saturday afternoon, October 29th.  This will be a late afternoon hike so those who are interested can participate in the Fremont Peak Observatory open house, which will occur in the afternoon and evening.  The hike is only about a mile and will take no longer than one hour, including stops for enjoying the fantastic views from 3,169 foot Fremont Peak.  We will meet at 4:30 pm, which will provide enough time to complete the hike before sunset which will occur at 6:11 pm on the 29th.

Participation in the observatory open house sessions will be on your own, but we are timing this hike so you and your scouts can take advantage of the opportunity if desired.  The solar observatory viewing will occur from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and the evening program for observing the night sky starts at 8:00 pm and goes to at least midnight.  Those who have participated in the observatory sessions in the past have commented that being able to observe the sun safely through the solar telescope is very cool, and observing the night sky through the 30" telescope is also neat.  However, trying to do both with the younger boys might be a challenge and participation in either activity is completely up to individual families.

For those who are interested in staying after the hike, we encourage you to bring something to eat for dinner.  We can gather in the picnic area and enjoy dinner as the sun sets.  Of course, everyone is welcome to do this whether you stay for the evening observatory program or not.

Directions and additional information are provided below.  If you plan on participating, please sign up on the attendance sheet on the blog so we have an idea of how many will attend.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at adscott1230@gmail.com.

As a reminder, our normal Pack meeting for the Tigers and Bears will be held Monday evening, 24 October at 6:00 pm Church of the Good Shepherd.  Wolves will meet at Kelton Park at 5:15 pm and Webelos will meet as previously coordinated by Lucy.

Best regards,

Al Scott

Driving Directions to Fremont Peak State Park

Cub Scout T-shirts / and yearly calendar.

Hi everyone,

In addition to the formal blue Cub Scout shirts, we also have t-shirts with a Pack design.  The Pack has a "Square account" to allow for electronic payments.  I have the cub Scout t-shirt order form ready on the Pack's Square site.  The t-shirts are sometimes referred to as Class B uniforms.

You can view the new t-shirts at: http://t-shirts.classb.com/designs/1185864/public to see what the shirts look like.

There are two styles that we can buy, the first is a short sleeve at $15.00. If you only buy one I would suggest this style.

We also have a long sleeve option at $15.00 as well. The one displayed is NOT the color we are going to use.  It is just to show you the style.

Both the long sleeve and the short will be the same color base, royal blue.

There is a link in this post to our square store so that you the parents, can go in and select the size shirt you want for your family(s). Remember the grandparents may want one too.

The link is here to buy now:

In the square link you will also see the annual scout dues, so that our returning scout families can pay the annual scout fee on-line as well. If you are NOT a new scout to pack 93 this year, then the annual dues can be paid through this link as well.

I also posted a tentative calendar for the year so that all the parents can see what we are planning at this time. The new calendar can be seen on the blog at the calendar page.  The calendar is subject to change so please check back from time to time.  We will also post calendar updates to the blog as needed.

Election Day Fundraising Tues Nov 8th - Help needed.

Hi Everyone,

We have the opportunity to raise some much needed funds for our pack, but we need your help!

In order to subsidize and bring your families fun events, we need to raise cash. One event we are planning this year is an aquarium overnight stay, but it's pricey. We also need to replace some camping equipment.

Our target $1500 and we have 2 fundraisers planned. 1st. "Team up for Democracy", working the polling station, (parents only); 2nd. Boys bundling and selling mistletoe for the holidays.

Monterey County Elections Dept. has an opening to run a polling station at the Kinship Center off River Rd. This will bring in a whopping $800 for just one day's work. Paul, Al and myself are all going to work the event,  but we need a total of 13 workers.  We need additional 2 volunteers from the Al's Den, 5 from Paul's Den and 2 from my Den. Steve Tackett has generously offered to be the extra person.

Poll shifts are: 6am-10am; 10am-2pm; 2pm-6pm; 6pm-9:30pm

All workers have to take a 2 hr training, which has many flexible times and locations. Please let me know via text by this week if you can sign up.

It should be a fun and interesting experience and is a wonderful way to serve your community and raise funds for our pack at the same time!

Al Scott and myself are visiting the classrooms at Toro this Wednesday Sept 8th. talking about cubs scouting. Please have your boys in their cubs scout uniforms. It's a great opportunity for your little ambassadors to help show off their uniforms and share their experiences with others.

Thanks, Lucy.

Troop 93 Eagle Scout Court of Honor

Hello everyone,
As many of you know, Cub Scouts goes through 5th grade.  After that, the boys graduate and can join a Boy Scout Troop.  The Church of the Good Shepherd also sponsors Boy Scout Troop 93.  The highest achievement in Boy Scouts is the Eagle Scout award.

One of the scouts in Troop 93, John Yeager, will be receiving his Eagle Scout award Sunday August 28th at 3PM at the church, and the Troop would like to invite any of our interested Cub Scouts and their families.

I think this is a great opportunity and can have a big impact on our young Scouts as they see the ceremony.  These are usually very special and significant ceremonies.

If anyone would like to attend, they are asking for RSVPs.  If you would like to attend please let me know at our Pack email, pack93toro@gmail.com and I will forward your RSVP to the family.

thank you
Steve T

Pico Blanco

Hello everyone,
According to the Pico Blanco Facebook page, all camp programs scheduled for September have been canceled.  This includes the Labor Day family camp and the Dad and Lad camp.  The camp was spared from the fire, but there is a lot of work to be done in and around the site.

We will be resuming regular Den/Pack meetings in September, so stay tuned for more details.

S.F. Giants Baseball Game Change

Hi All,

The S.F. Giants game day is getting close. August 21st.

We were notified by the Giants organization that they have changed their game time from 1:00 pm game time to a 5:00 pm game start time. We know that this may impact some of you in deciding to go or not. We are looking into the possibility to see if there is a refund, but I would not count on this happening.

If you want to have your son participate in the on field event with the pack then he MUST be in uniform, as will be the unit leader(s). Please note the meeting place and time for the on field event.

Lucy has everyone's tickets, and she will be coordinating with you to get them out. If you need to contact her please do so at: 809-4695

We are sorry if this changes your plans we felt sad about the time change as well, but if you decide to go I know the boys will still have fun.

I have attached the official notice to this post.

Dear Boy Scout Day Special Event Attendee,

If your special event tickets were passed along to another party, please make them aware of this important time change.

Again, first pitch for Sunday, August 21st against the New York Mets is now set for 5:08pm. Gates will open at 3:08pm.
