Thanks and Fishing details for Feb 6th

Hello everyone,

I hope we all had a lot of fun at the Derby. I wanted to say, that even though Lucy Said I did a lot, it would not have happened without the help of Lucy, Al, Bryan, and Steve. So thanks you each of you as well to everyone that helped clean up after, and especially to all the parents, and kids for bearing with us as we stumbled through our first time with the new software.

Our next big event is the fishing at McAlpine Lake on February 6th. We have a sign up sheet on the blog, and I was told by the owner that not only will they have just stocked the lake before we come, but if we get at least 15 boys and a parent for each then we will get a 15% discount on our group fishing pass.

The fee is 15 dollars for kids and 20 dollars for adults. We will do a group pass, at the gate.  More details on entering will follow once we get a better count. The gate opens at 7:00am.

Some good suggestions for bait are worms, and PowerBait. The new trout will like the PowerBait, and lures best. If you are not coming until later 9: or after, then worms will work better on the catfish.

The store at the lake does have some rods, and fresh worms.

I have the lake rules below and direction at the bottom.

New year, and new things planned

Happy New year everyone, we hope you all had a great holiday break. I know I am glade the kids are back in school.

We had a great time at the rock gym on Jan 2nd, the boys got out a lot of energy, and even did a little climbing.

Just a reminder if your son was a scout as of Jan 1st 2015, and you have not paid your dues for the 2016 year yet. Please bring your $60.00 check on Monday the 11th.

We have lots of great things planned for the 2016 year already.

T-shirt sizing at the Jan 11th meeting.

That’s right! We are getting the t-shirts early this year. So let’s all try to attend the Jan 11th meeting to get the size you want. We will again have samples for you to try. Each den will have a t-shirt person to collect the names, sizes and number of shirts. The den rep will then manage getting the shirts to each person once they are in.

Below is a short list of items that we have planned for the next few months.

Hot Dog fund raiser sale

Hi all, and happy holidays.

Our scout hot dog sale at the gingerbread / holiday craft fair is Sunday December 13th from 11:00 to 5:00 pm.

We are looking for volunteers to sign up on the blog attendance sheet.

The event is located at the San Benancio Middle School.

I think we need at least two to three parent volunteers per shift with at least three boys in uniform per shift. The shifts are set up in one hour segments. Please sign up for as many shifts as you feel comfortable for working.

Remember that this is our one big fund raiser for our pack, so it is important that each boy participates in some way. Whatever shift you signup for please show up a few minutes early so you can see how the flow is working and you should be able to blend in and hit the ground running at you shift time.

Also our next meeting is set for the following Monday Dec 14th at the normal time. Please everyone try to be at this meeting it will be a fun meeting for the boys, as we will play games, and hand out badges and more.

Thanks

Holiday gift idea and SPCA trip for Bears

Hi Pack 93 families,

Holiday time is here and  I wanted to send out a holiday gift idea list for our boys. These are not required, but hopefully you will find this list useful.

Headlamp for caves and camping

Compass

Flashlight

Beanie hat for camping (best way to keep them warm at night)

Camping spork  (fork spoon)

Camping dishes (Fozzil's solo pack is pretty cool)

Travel games (chess, checkers etc)

Small pair of binoculars

Sleeping bag (kids and womens bags are 10% warmer) If you want the bag to last them through to teenage, consider buying a womens bag. REI have a Kindercone, Oregon Outfitters and Backcountry are a little cheeper than REI.

Fishing rod (Scouting recommends "Ugly Stick", If you've never put the line on before, ask the store to do it for you, it's about five extra bucks and well worth the time and hassle) I got ours at Outdoor World.

Songs, skit and joke books, you can check out the selection at the Scout shop or amazon.

Hope this is helpful.

See the Bears at the SPCA Monday at 3:45pm

Thanks, Lucy,

Veteran's Day Parade Wed Nov 11th and Pack meeting Nov 9th

Hi Cub Scout Families,

Please join us for the Veteran's Parade in Salinas on Wednesday November 11th. The parade leaves from Salinas High School parking lot to Main and Gabilan St. We then walk back to the High School via Salinas St. (At least that is what we have done in previous years). The parade begins at 2pm. Please arrive at 1pm and no later than 1:30pm. I have posted a link on the attendance page so we have an idea of expected attendance.

I am not sure if I can make that event, so if another parent would like to lead, please email me or call me to get additional info. If you have smaller children and have a wagon, it's a good idea to bring it so you can pull them along.

Boys need to wear full uniform (navy blue shorts or pants are fine) and cap. If you would like to see the route, please copy and paste the link below.

It was great to see so many of you on the hike today. Please send me pictures if you would like them posted.

Our pack meeting is tomorrow night (Monday 9th) We only have one Pack meeting this month, so please try to attend.

Thanks, Lucy.
