Palo Corona Hike Saturday, September 26th at 10:00 am
Pack 93 Families,
We hope this message finds you all well! We are going to try to resume our monthly outdoor activities, taking into consideration the proper social distancing of course.
Please join us on Saturday, September 26th at 10am for a hike at Palo Corona. If you recall, we had this hike scheduled in March, right before the shelter in place orders caused us to cancel.
This should be a nice easy hike, appropriate for all ages, so please bring the family. Please bring water, sunscreen and hats. If you want to picnic at the end of the hike, you can pack a light lunch or snacks. The weather has been strange lately, so be sure to check the forecast the night before so you are dressed appropriately.
Let’s meet at the Visitors Center. This is still closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but it will be a good place for us to gather ourselves.
Enter Palo Corona from the Rancho Canada unit - NO PERMIT REQUIRED
From Highway 1, take Carmel Valley Road to Rio Road (next to Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula). Turn left off Rio Road to enter the park, where ample parking is available.
If you need to contact someone, call or text Sara Madson at 818-261-8734.
More info can be found here: https://www.mprpd.org/palo-corona-regional-park
So we know who will be joining us, please sign up on the attendance spreadsheet on the blog at: http://pack93toro.blogspot.com/p/attendance-spreadsheet.html
We hope to see everyone on 9/26!

Cancellation of Pack 93 Activities
This is probably no surprise given the directives to shelter-in-place in Monterey County, but all Pack 93 activities will be cancelled until further notice. For now, this includes the USS Hornet overnight and most likely, the family camp over Memorial Day weekend. We'll let you all know as soon as possible if the situation changes and we are able to continue our activities.
While you are sheltering-in-place, you might want to consider filling some of the time you have by working on advancement requirements with your scouts. Since outdoor activities are still possible, this would also be a great time to go on a hike with your family (while keeping your social distance from other families, of course!). Please contact your Den Leaders if you have any questions about what adventures you might work on.
We hope all our families stay safe and healthy during this challenging time and look forward to seeing everyone soon.
With warm regards from your Pack 93 leadership.

Pack 93: First Meeting of 2020 on Monday, January 13th and Pinewood Derby on Saturday, January 25th
Just a quick reminder that our first meeting of 2020 will be this Monday, January 13th at our normal time of 6:00 pm. We hope to see you all there.
Please also make sure you block SATURDAY, January 25th at 2:00 pm on your calendars for the Pinewood Derby at the Church.
Hopefully all the boys received a Pinewood Derby car kit at our last meeting in December. If your scout hasn't received a car yet, be sure to pick one up this Monday night so you and your scout will have time to build it prior to the 25th. If you can't attend on Monday, please contact your Den Leader to get a car.
Lots of info on the Pinewood Derby can be found on the blog at http://pack93toro.blogspot.com/p/pinewood-derby.html. A lot of the information is generic, and not necessarily how we will run the races, but it gives a good idea. We plan to run lots of races so every scout will have many chances to see their car run down the track.
We will have scales to weigh cars to make sure they meet the maximum weight limit of 5 ounces. We will also have some repair items in case a car loses a wheel/axel, etc. If you have questions about any aspects of the Pinewood Derby, please feel free to ask your Den leader.
See you all Monday night!
