Hi All,
The Pack 93 hike at Fremont Peak will be next Saturday afternoon, April 27th. This will be a late afternoon hike so those who are interested can participate in the Fremont Peak Observatory open house, which will occur in the afternoon and evening. The hike is only about a mile and will take no longer than one hour, including stops for enjoying the fantastic views from 3,169 foot Fremont Peak. We will meet at 4pm, to catch the daytime viewing, and still provide enough time to complete the hike before sunset. Note: Park fee: $6 per car, bring warm jacket for night viewing!
Meet 4pm
Daytime viewing 4-5pm
Pack hike 5-6pm
Hot dogs 6-7pm
Night time viewing 8pm
Participation in the observatory open house sessions can be on your own or with pack, but we are timing this hike so you and your scouts can take advantage of the opportunity if desired. The solar observatory viewing will occur from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and the evening program for observing the night sky starts at 8:00 pm and goes to at least midnight. Those who have participated in the observatory sessions in the past have commented that being able to observe the sun safely through the solar telescope is very cool, and observing the night sky through the 30" telescope is also neat. However, trying to do both with the younger boys might be a challenge and participation in either activity is completely up to individual families.
For those who are interested in staying after the hike, we encourage you to bring something to eat for dinner. We will provide hot dogs. We can gather in the picnic area and enjoy dinner as the sun sets. Of course, everyone is welcome to do this whether you stay for the evening observatory program or not.
Directions and additional information are provided below. If you plan on participating, please sign up on the attendance sheet on the blog so we have an idea of how many will attend. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at lucychesshire@hotmail.com
Thanks, Lucy

Monterey Bay Aquarium Overnight Signup
Hi Scout Families!
We have an exciting event coming up in April--an overnight at the Monterey Bay Aquarium! The overnight will start at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 6th and departure is between 7:45 and 8:30 am on Sunday, April 7th.
There is a sign-up page for the overnight on the Attendance Spreadsheet section of the blog at: http://pack93toro.blogspot.com/p/attendance-spreadsheet.html . The normal cost for participation is $95 per person. Due to our success with mistletoe sales over the holiday, the Pack will contribute $45 to the cost for each scout, so the fee for scouts will be $50 and the fee for other family members will be $95.
The overnight includes a light evening snack and breakfast on Sunday morning. Dinner is not provided, so participants will need to be fed prior to arrival. A variety of activities are offered throughout the evening for sleepover participants and admission to the aquarium is included for the following day.
Sleepovers require one chaperone (≥21 years of age) for every four youths (1:4). Guests must be ≥5 years of age. Guests ≥18 years of age do not require a chaperone. We will coordinate chaperone coverage by den, so if you don't plan to attend with your scout, please coordinate with your den leader to ensure adequate chaperone coverage.
We are required to submit our final attendance list by February 6th, so please sign up no later than Monday, February 4th.
We will provide more information for the overnight in the coming weeks, but for now, additional information can be found in the guide at: https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/-/m/pdf/aquarium-adventures/aquarium-sleepover-planning-guide-seashore.pdf .
We look forward to seeing you all at this exciting event!
