Blue & Gold Picnic – Saturday, 3/27

Since we were not able to have our traditional Blue & Gold Dinner in February we are planning a Blue & Gold Picnic.  We’ll hold the picnic at the Church in their outdoor area on Saturday, 3/27 at 11:30am. The weather will hopefully be a bit warmer!  Please bring your own food, including drinks, lunch, sweet treats, etc.  This is open to the whole family.  We will also be stuffing Easter eggs to drop off at a family warming shelter in preparation for Easter celebrations they have planned for their families.  For the Bears, this will satisfy the Fellowship & Duty to God/Community support activity.  If we have time, we can also take a short hike around the Church grounds.

Please sign up on the attendance spreadsheet if you plan to participate so we know how many to expect.

We hope to see you there!

Pinewood Derby Reminder

Pack 93,

We are not going to have the traditional derby this year due to concerns with the ability to social distance.  However, we did purchase car kits and would like give families the opportunity to make a car.

Please have your cars complete by Saturday, January 16th.  We'll ask that the completed cars be dropped off at 11am at the church so that everyone can see what was created.  There will be an outdoor area set up to view the cars and we’ll have awards across various categories:

·      Most Unique Derby Car

·      Most Humorous Derby Car

·      Most Impressive Paint Job

·      Most Realistic Design

·      Judge’s Choice

·      People’s Choice

This is the year to focus on design and imagination without having to worry about the racing requirements.  Even though we won't be racing, we thought having the boys create their cars would still be a nice learning experience and a good way to incorporate some additional family time during the holiday break.   So let those creative juices flow and have fun with it!!

If you don’t have your car kit yet, please reach out to your Den leader.

So we know who will be joining us, please sign up on the attendance spreadsheet on the blog at: http://pack93toro.blogspot.com/p/attendance-spreadsheet.html .

Garland Ranch Hike Saturday, December 5th at 10:00 am

We’ll be doing our last hike of the year at Garland Ranch Regional Park in Carmel Valley Saturday December 5th at 10:00 am.

We will meet in the parking lot at Garland Ranch at 10:00am, then walk to the Ranger Station to visit restrooms before the hike. We’ll be doing the Buckeye Nature Trail.  The hike is around 1.8 miles and is listed as a good family hike that is relatively easy, so it’s appropriate for all ages.

Please dress in layers since it will be cool at the start, but might warm up once we start hiking. Bring water, sunscreen and hats for the hike. If you want to picnic at the end of the hike, you can pack a light lunch or snacks.

Social Distancing will be practiced, please bring your masks!

Garland Ranch Regional Park is located at 700 W Carmel Valley Rd, Carmel Valley, CA 93924.  More info on the park, including directions can be found at https://www.mprpd.org/garland-ranch-regional-park .

Pack 93 Halloween Trivia & Scavenger Hunt

Join us on Saturday, October 31st at 10am for a Halloween themed family activity. We will be meeting at the outdoor area at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Each scout (with their siblings, if applicable) will be lined up 6 feet apart and will need to answer a series of trivia questions to advance up the line. The trivia questions will be scout or Halloween related. When they reach the top, they will be given a riddle to locate their bag of candy. Scouts and siblings will solve the riddle together, but each will have their own bag of candy. Please have the kids come in their costume.

We will be observing proper COVID etiquette so masks and social distancing will be required.

Please RSVP on the attendance sheet by Friday, 10/23 so we can have the headcount to ensure we have enough trivia questions, riddles and candy. http://pack93toro.blogspot.com/p/attendance-spreadsheet.html

We hope to see you there!!

Palo Corona Hike Saturday, September 26th at 10:00 am

Pack 93 Families,

We hope this message finds you all well!  We are going to try to resume our monthly outdoor activities, taking into consideration the proper social distancing of course.

Please join us on Saturday, September 26th at 10am for a hike at Palo Corona.  If you recall, we had this hike scheduled in March, right before the shelter in place orders caused us to cancel.

This should be a nice easy hike, appropriate for all ages, so please bring the family.  Please bring water, sunscreen and hats. If you want to picnic at the end of the hike, you can pack a light lunch or snacks.  The weather has been strange lately, so be sure to check the forecast the night before so you are dressed appropriately.

Let’s meet at the Visitors Center.  This is still closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but it will be a good place for us to gather ourselves.

Enter Palo Corona from the Rancho Canada unit - NO PERMIT REQUIRED

From Highway 1, take Carmel Valley Road to Rio Road (next to Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula).  Turn left off Rio Road to enter the park, where ample parking is available.

If you need to contact someone, call or text Sara Madson at 818-261-8734.
