Fishing Sat Feb 3; Scout Sunday Feb 4

Fishing Trip - 7ish-10A Saturday, McAlpine Lake
The fishing trip is Saturday at McAlpine Lake on Highway 101 just North of San Juan Bautista.  While it is a fully stocked lake, plan to be there before 9:00 as the fish will generally stop biting around 9:00 to 10:00.

We will be at the lake from 7:00 am till 10:00 am. 
Please go to the blog and sign up on the attendance spread sheet.
Cost - $35 adults; $25 youths

Catfish can be tricky, an experienced adult will handle taking all the fish off the hooks.

Some good suggestions for bait are lures, worms, and PowerBait. 
The new trout will like the PowerBait and lures best. 
Coming at 9 or later?  Worms will work better on the catfish.
Cost - $35 adults; $25 youth; $15 if you're not fishing


Things to bring

• A plastic bag or old cooler for the fish.
• Small lure for the fishing line.
• Food and or snacks for you and your son.
• Water for drinking
• Gloves if you think you want to touch the fish without really touching one.
• Worms, can be purchased at the bait and tackle shop.
• A sliding sinker

Scout Sunday - 10AM Service Church of the Good Shepherd
Scout Sunday is February 4th. 

Scheduled near the Boy Scout’s birthday on Feb. 8, this is one of 3 days celebrating the connection between Scouting and our faith-based chartered partners.


Our charter organization is the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.  If your scout wishes to participate, scouts should attend in uniform and a pair of blue pants. The service starts at 9:45.  Please reach out to Al with any questions.

A few logistical reminders

Start Times:
We are staggering start times by den.  

• 1PM - Webelos 1 and 2 Scouts
• 2PM - Bears
• 2:30 PM - Wolves and Tigers

Boys are welcome to come earlier or stay later and watch all the races.


Technical and Pit Crew support:

• Scales to weigh the cars to make sure they meet the limits.  
• Some repair items will be available in case a car loses a wheel/axel, etc.

Pinewood Derby and Next Meeting

Hi everyone,

We will be running the Pinewood Derby on SATURDAY, January 27th at the Church.  We are doing this because with the number of boys we have, we don't have enough time to run the races on our normal Monday night meetings. 

Hopefully all the boys have a car kit.  If you still don't, please contact your Den Leader to get a car. 

Lots of info on the Pinewood Derby can be found on the blog.  When you go to our blog, you will notice a page titled Pinewood Derby.  A lot of the information here is generic, and not necessarily how we will run the races, but it gives a good idea. 

We are going to have races at staggered times.  The boys are welcome to come earlier or stay later and watch all the races, but the different times will help us run the races more efficiently.

Webelos 1 and 2 Scouts will start at 1:00 pm.

Bears will start at 2pm

Wolves and Tigers will start at 2:30.

We will have scales to weigh cars to make sure they meet the limits.  We will also have some repair items in case a car loses a wheel/axel, etc. 

Our next regular meeting will be this coming Monday night, January 22nd.  You can ask any last minute Derby questions then.

Mistletoe Sales Week #2 - Dec 9, 10

Hi all!
It was a great start to the fund raising!  

We've got 4 more sales dates to go and we need you and your Scouts precious smiling faces and excellent helping hands.

A lot of spots still open, and we need workers:

• Saturday, Dec 9 - 1-2 more Scouts (10-12 or 12-2 at Del Monte Center)
• Sunday, Dec 10 - 3-5 more Scouts (10:30-12:30 at Star Market) 
• Saturday, Dec 16 - 3-5 more Scouts  (1-2 PM at Del Monte Center)
• Sunday, Dec 17 - 1-2 Scouts (10:30-12:30 at Star Market)

Please remember to sign up on the attendance spreadsheet so we know who to expect and that all times are covered.  We know it's holiday season and we thank you for your time and your Scouts efforts to support the pack.

All scouts that work any of these sale dates will earn an extra coupon for any paid event that we do.
