Sign up! Sign up! Sign up!

Hello everyone,
Family camp is around the corner.  So far only a few families have signed up.  This camp is the highlight of our Scouting year.  Everyone who has gone has had great comments.

If you don't have much camping experience this is a great first outing. We will develop a food plan for the whole weekend, so that you don't have to worry about what food to bring.  The Pack will take care of purchasing food.  Families will help with prep and clean up.

Families will only need to bring their own camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags, etc).  We will post more soon about what specifically to bring.

In order to get the campsite we want, we need to send in our roster asap.

Please sign up on the blog by next Monday, April 25th so that we can send in our registration.

See the previous blog post for more information.

Our next regular meeting will also be Monday night at the church.

thank you

Pack 93 Pico Blanco Family Camp Info May 27th - 30th

Pico Blanco camp is a 1.5 - 2 hour drive from Salinas.  You can arrive any time and leave any time, but the camp is from 4pm Friday to Monday evening on Memorial Day weekend.  Cost is $50 each (kids 5 and under are free), and includes food.  We spend a lot of time hanging out by the fire and playing in the river.  There is archery and BB gun shooting (very well supervised).  Some of the boys also bring pocketknives and we instruct on safe use.  Expect some nice unstructured time in a beautiful forest setting, something many of the scouting families look forward to all year.  Non-scout friends or family members are also welcome to come with you.  If you haven't been camping in a long time (or ever), this is a great opportunity to learn the ropes. There will be plenty of people to help you put up your tent, and have fun.

There is a sign up sheet on the blog site. All money needs to be collected by the April 23th den meeting.

There will be a lot more info to come.

Big Sur marathon opportunity

Hello everyone,
Al Scott has identified a potential opportunity for the Pack to earn some funds by assisting at the Big Sur marathon on Sunday April 24th.  The meeting time is very very early, 3:45 AM.  This is much too early for our Scouts, but we'd like to find out if there are any parents that would be willing to do this.  If not, that is ok and we will pass on this, but if anyone might be interested we'd like to find out before we respond.

If this is something you are willing to do, please email the pack directly at pack93toro@gmail.com

Please email by Wednesday April 13th.  Again, if this is not a good fit for the Pack that is ok, but we wanted to poll everyone first.

thank you
ST

Sorry for typos!! Actual date to respond is April 13th!!

Toro Regional Park Day Camp and Pico Blanco Family Campout

Hi Pack 93 Families,

Summer is right around the corner and we have two fun events during May and June.

Day camp is held at Toro Regional Park June 20th-24th from 9am-3pm. Cub Scouts from around the district attend this day camp, which includes fun cub scout activities during the week with one day at Leguna Seca shooting range for archery and BB guns. To sign up please copy and paste the link below or contact the Cub Scout office. You can mail in the forms, complete online, or visit the Cubs store on Main Street in Salinas. I have been unable to get a cut off date, but do asap if you are interested.

When completing the form, please check the box "Santa Lucia North" June 20-24th $100

Please be aware that some parent participation is required. I will arrange a roster for all the parents of children attending. Each parent is required to help for two shifts 9am-12 or 12-3pm. You can also elect to just do one whole day. I have created an attendance sheet, please let me know if you have already signed up or are planning to.

Family Camp is our annual Memorial Weekend overnight camp in Pico Blanco, Big Sur, which is probably the highlight of our cubs scout year for most of the kids. (May 27th-30th). Please mark your calendars for this fun experience. Perfect for the experienced or first time campers! More information will follow.

Thanks,
Lucy.
